For each class, a dancer needs to come mentally and physically prepared. Here are some items that will ensure you are ready for every class:
Dress code:
“Dress like a dancer, feel like a dancer.”
- Fitted black tank top or bodysuit
- Fitted black shorts i.e. bike shorts
- High knee socks
- Hair pulled back and out of face
- NO jewelry including watches
- Ghillies (preferred) or black ballet shoes
Additional items:
- Water bottle
- Dance notebook & pen
- Crinoline or practise skirt (for those dancers in Pre-Bronze level or above)

General Safety & Conduct:
- Parents/guardians are responsible for the safe drop off and pick up of their child at the appropriate times and understand that once outside our classroom space, that Bermuda Highland Dancers is in no way liable for the care or protection of the enrolled student or any of their family members.
- No parents/visitors are allowed to sit in the class whilst the class is being conducted.
- Bermuda Highland Dancers is only responsible for pupils while they are in their class and children cannot be supervised whilst they are outside class.
- Students must be collected promptly at the end of their class.
- Students are asked to attend classes without creating excessive noise outside or causing a nuisance to neighbouring businesses.
- Students should go to the washroom before class. While they will be allowed to go during class, it can be very disruptive to the lesson(s).
- Please refrain from chewing gum, drinking or eating in class.
- Please remove all jewellery and loose clothing before class.
- To avoid injury, do not touch non-class items.
- Do not play with the chairs or other items in the classroom.
- We offer a smoke-free environment.
- There is a zero-tolerance policy on substance abuse.
Absence or Lateness:
- All students must be punctual to class and are kindly asked to wait outside the classroom until their class is due to commence.
- Any injury/illness that may restrict or hinder a student must be reported to the teacher prior to class, and it is recommended that students, although injured or ill (unless contagious), attend classes for viewing purposes.
- You must notify a teacher in writing if a student will not be attending class or if a late arrival is anticipated.
Canceled or Additional Classes:
- On occasion, classes may be cancelled due to poor weather conditions or other circumstances beyond our control. Classes cancelled for these reasons will not be rescheduled.
- From time to time it may become necessary to schedule extra classes i.e exam preparation, rehearsals for performances and other productions and to make up classes.
