Welcome to Bermuda Highland Dancers! We exist to instil a love of dance and train students of all ages and levels of ability in the beautiful art of Highland Dance. Whether you have a dance background, Scottish heritage or simply a desire to try something different, we welcome you to join one of our classes!
Our Highland Dancing programme adheres to the guidelines of the Royal Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing (RSOBHD) and the examination programme of the Scottish Dance Teachers’ Alliance (SDTA). Dancers who register with the RSOBHD are able to compete in our occasional local, as well as international, Highland Dancing competitions. Our pupils also have many opportunities to perform at various local events, often with the Bermuda Islands Pipe Band.
History
The Bermuda Highland Dancers began as the Dance Division of the Bermuda Islands Pipe Band and has since evolved into its own organisation. From small beginnings, we are now a thriving dance community with growing international connections.
Our logo incorporates the colours of the Bermuda Blue tartan. This tartan was designed specifically for Bermuda where the light blue represents the colour of our sky, the dark blue the colour of our sea, the green for our endemic Bermuda cedar tree and the red for the flowers that bloom all year round.
Our Team
Our teachers are all seasoned performers and all hold professional teaching qualifications with the Scottish Dance Teachers Alliance (SDTA) and/or British Association of Teachers of Dance (BATD).
