Our Highland Dancing programme adheres to the guidelines of the Royal Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing (RSOBHD) and the examination programme of the Scottish Dance Teachers’ Alliance (SDTA). Our goal is to provide quality dance training that helps to develop balance, strength, flexibility, memory skills, presentation skills, confidence and self-esteem. We do this with an emphasis on fun and a love of Highland Dance. We welcome both boys and girls into all of our programmes ages from three years to adult. The classes are divided according to ability, age, availability of teachers and numbers of students.
NOTE: Class division is a guideline only and the teachers use their discretion when deciding who is in which class. This is always done with the best interests of dancer(s) in mind.
Dance Stars
Designed for dancers between the ages of 3-6 years to introduce them to the basic positions and movements in Highland Dancing in a non-competitive and fun way. We learn and play games that aim to develop the dancers’ musicality and dance ability.
Beginner
Beginner dancers aged 5 and up, from Preparatory to Pre Bronze levels in medal tests. In these classes, the dancers learn exercises to develop their muscle control, basic positions and movements in Highland and begin to learn the traditional Highland dances.
Intermediate
These classes are for dancers who have mastered the basic positions and movements in Highland Dance and are at the Bronze to Pre Gold levels in their Highland and National medal tests. Dancers at this level may begin incorporating the positions and movements in choreographed performance pieces.
Advanced
Dancers are learning advanced movements, and a higher degree of stamina and muscle control is required. Dancers learn more difficult Highland steps and the more advanced National dances. Dancers are encouraged to take more than one dance class per week and/or assist with other classes.
If you or your child are interested in joining any of the above-mentioned classes, or you have any other special requests, please fill out our REGISTRATION FORM and we will respond with the timing, cost and appropriate class level.
